WEINmesse berlin now at the Funkturm
The 25th WEINmesse berlin is being organised by Messe Berlin from 4 to 6 May 2018. In cooperation with Deutsche Wein Marketing (DWM) more than 300 regional, national and international wine producers will be congregating on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds to present their finest wines to enthusiasts and trade visitors from the wine trade, the catering sector and the hotel industry.
On the 25th anniversary of this event (2017 venue: Station Berlin) it is now relocating to the exhibition halls at the foot of the city’s radio tower, the Funkturm. In future the timing of this event will also be changed. Starting in 2018 this successful combination of a fair for the public and the trade will be taking place in the spring (2017: 24 - 26 February). Moving to later in the year will make it possible to present the newest wines from the previous year, which are traditionally bottled in March/April of each year. This will give visitors to this event exclusive access to the very latest vintages.
The focus at WEINmesse berlin is on the opportunity to taste specially selected, limited varieties of wine from Germany and abroad, which in most cases connoisseurs and trade visitors would be unable to find in wholesale and retail outlets. Here visitors can obtain first-hand details from the exhibiting producers about the origin, vintage and special characteristics of the wines on display.
With over 20 years experience of the international wine industry, among its other activities Deutsche Wein Marketing is the organiser of the Berlin Wine Trophy. During this competition, from which the public are excluded, over 150 of the leading judges are able to taste well over 6,200 wines and award prizes. As a result the Berlin Wine Trophy is among the most important wine-tasting events anywhere in the world, and is considered to be the largest wine-tasting competition under the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine).
